Saddle Up for State Championships – Two Days of Equine Excellence in Tasmania!

Hobart, Tasmania – 27-28 January 2024

This weekend, prepare to witness the crowning of champions in both Show Horse and Show Jumping as two major Equestrian Tasmania State Championship events take center stage in the South of the state. Mark your calendars for 27-28 January, to experience the pinnacle of equestrian sport in Tasmania!

Equestrian Tasmania Horse of the Year Championships (Show Horse):

Coal Valley Equestrian Centre will come alive with a dazzling display of horsemanship as horses and riders vie for the coveted title of Tasmanian Horse of the Year. 69 horses across 251 class entries will showcase dedication and versatility across all ages and categories. "Everyone has been working incredibly hard all season," says Tania Hay, ETAS Show Horse Coordinator. "From our youngest rider at 5 years old to seasoned competitors, the passion for their horses and the quest for the Horse of the Year title is truly inspiring."

Equestrian Tasmania, Jumping State Championship:

The high energy continues over at the Tasmanian Equestrian Centre, Acton, as over the 2 days horse and rider partnerships soar over fences in the Jumping State Championships, with athleticism at its finest with classes ranging from 60cm to 130cm. "Both riders and horses have been training tirelessly for this weekend," says Claire Walker, Jumping Tasmania Chair. "Spectators can sit ringside and experience the amazing relationship of skill and courage between horse and rider.  2023 has seen some wonderful competitions so we are looking forward to the same great action this weekend"

Spectators Welcome

Both Championships welcome spectators, offering a fantastic opportunity for families and horse lovers to enjoy two days of exhilarating competition. Free admission at both events makes it accessible for everyone to witness the talent of Tasmania riders and horses. Food and drink stalls will be available throughout the day.
