Membership Categories

We recognise that everyone joins Equestrian Tasmania for different reasons. Whether you're a competitive rider, a grassroots enthusiast, a coach, an official, or simply someone who loves horses, there is a membership category to suit you.

Before you renew or join, please read the descriptions below carefully to help you select the category that best matches your level of participation.The year runs 1 July 2026 - 30 June 2027 - Part Years Fees are availale from 1 Jan 2027 covering until 30 June 2027.

Ready to renew or join?

Your membership is made up of:

  • An EA Administration levy
  • An EA Insurance levy - providing your 24/7 personal accident and public liability cover
  • An ETAS Administration levy - this portion stays in Tasmania to support the delivery of the sport here

COMPETITIVE MEMBERSHIPS

 

COMPETITOR

Competitor membership is available to those who participate and contribute to the competitive environment of equestrian sport. A Competitor member, Senior or Junior, is permitted to compete at all levels of the sport.

This membership includes:

  • 24/7 personal accident insurance
  • 24/7 public and product liability insurance
  • Compete at all levels of official and unofficial competition
  • Participate in closed and restricted club activities where EA members are invited
  • Register a horse
  • Purchase competition licences
  • Access to accredited education programs
  • Access to EA and ETAS communications
  • Voting rights (18+ only)

Fees: Senior $438 / Junior $205

PARTICIPANT

Participant membership is for those who participate in and contribute to grassroots equestrian sport. A Participant member can compete in Participation classes and unofficial competition — see the Activity Classification table above for details.

This membership includes:

  • 24/7 personal accident insurance
  • 24/7 public and product liability insurance
  • Compete in Participation classes and unofficial competition
  • Participate in closed and restricted club activities where EA members are invited
  • Register a horse
  • Purchase competition licences
  • Access to accredited education programs
  • Access to EA and ETAS communications
  • Voting rights (18+ only)

Fees: Senior $260 / Junior $127

NON-COMPETITIVE MEMBERSHIPS

Non-competitive memberships are for members who are not actively competing, including pleasure riders, coaches, officials and horse owners.

RECREATIONAL

Recreational membership is for members who enjoy riding for pleasure or who participate in equestrian activities through their club. A Recreational member cannot attend club training days under this category, they must be member of the club. However, this EA membership provides personal and public liability insurance that is not included in standard club membership.

Please note: A Recreational member is not permitted to enter activities that are restricted to EA members, register a horse, or purchase a competition licence.

  • Participate in club activities as a club member
  • Access to EA and ETAS communications
  • Voting rights (18+ only)

Fees: Senior $166 / Junior $92 

SUPPORTER

Supporter membership is for those who contribute to the equestrian community but do not actively compete as a rider. There are three levels within the Supporter category, please read carefully to ensure you select the right one.

All Supporter memberships include:

  • 24/7 personal accident insurance
  • 24/7 public and product liability insurance
  • Access to EA professional indemnity insurance packages for coaches and officials
  • Register a horse
  • Purchase competition licences
  • Access to EA and ETAS communications
  • Voting rights (18+ only)

upporter — Official
For EA accredited officials only who do not actively compete

Available exclusively to EA accredited officials who contribute to the sport through officiating but do not compete as a rider. To hold this membership your name must appear on a current officials list with one of the EA disciplines.

ETAS recognises the significant contribution officials make to the sport and subsidises this membership by $31.00 per member.
Fee: $100 

Supporter - Coach
For EA accredited coaches who do not actively compete

Available to non-competing EA accredited coaches. Please note this is the minimum level of membership a coach is required to hold.
Fee: $234 

Supporter - Horse Owner
For horse owners who do not actively compete as a rider

Available to those who own horses that compete but who do not compete themselves as a rider.
Fee: $233

 

UPGRADING YOUR MEMBERSHIP

It's common for members to start the year as a Participant and find they need to upgrade to Competitor as the season progresses. You can upgrade at any time during the membership year by logging into your JustGo account. You will only pay the difference between your current and new membership category.

Age Restrictions For Competitor Classes

  • Official Dressage, you must be 12 years or older on the day of competition in Official Dressage or 10 years or older if riding in Official Pony Dressage.
  • Eventing EvA80 classes in Tasmania are open to riders in the year of their 8th birthday or older, for EvA95 classes the rider must be in the year of their 8th birthday or older and for graded classes (i.e. junior EvA105) you can compete from the beginning of the calendar year from which you turn 13.
  • Official Jumping you must be turning 12 in that calendar year.
  • Saddlehorse, you need to be a Competitor Junior or Senior member to compete at the HOTY show.
