Equestrian Federation of Australia (EFA) Tasmania2005 AIHT :: Challenging Four Star for Adelaide in November :: Media releaseAdelaide, South Australia 30th June 2005 Internationally renowned course designer, Mike Etherington-Smith (UK) has been in Adelaide for the past week, developing plans for another challenging CCI**** competition in November. Working with this year's Technical Delegate Jennifer Millar from New Zealand, and senior course builder Craig Gordon, Mike has designed another tough four star track. Features for 2005 include more fences at maximum height and width, alterations to the coffin and a brand new trakhener which will reward the smart and the bold. The fence which provided spectators with the most memorable views of eventing at its best, the :"Leap of Faith" will be enlarged promising plenty of action for riders and spectators alike. "Given that it's a Trans Taman Championship this year I have been careful to provide a suitable standard to ensure a rigorous competition for both teams. The course will reward the thinking rider and will have plenty of surprises to catch the complacent or unwary." said Mike. The CCI and CIC ** tracks will also undergo some changes, with a new route for some parts of the track, with the aim being to assist combinations to gain valuable experience and qualifications. "We view the staging of a quality two star competition as a vital contribution to the development of the sport" said event manager, Cathrynne Henshall. As in 2004, all three tracks will be beautifully built under the supervision of senior course builder Craig Gordon and with help from Jamie Maynard. "The high level of attention to detail and creativity of Mike and Craig will again be a hallmark of our cross country courses" advised Cathrynne. Construction begins in July. The CCI**** ground jury will be headed by Christian Landolt from Switzerland, fresh from his duties at Badminton. Nicoli Fife from NZ and WA's Pollyann Huntington will also officiate. Jennifer Millar from NZ will TD. "We are delighted to welcome Jennifer to the team and look forward to tapping in to her wealth of experience." Jennifer was TD for the Sydney Olympics and most recently at Rolex Kentucky. After the past few years focussing on ensuring the viability of the competition, plans are underway to develop the event in 2005. With a new airline sponsor in Emirates Airline, we will be launching the "Emirates Club", the ticket to exclusive hospitality, prime viewing, chances to win sponsor prizes, merchandise, behind the scenes tours such as stable visits and a guided course walk, plus opportunities to meet the riders, coaches and people who make the sport happen. "We've already had strong interest from interstate visitors and New Zealand. Tickets are limited so reserve your spot soon". For more information go to our website www.adelaidehorsetrials.com.au We're also planning a Friday night seminar or master class, an enlarged trade village, Sunday lunch entertainment and more opportunities to meet the riders so for the eventing enthusiast, Adelaide will be the place to be in November.
